Here are 4 goat milk soap recipes that I make, use, and sell. They are relatively simple and easy to make as long as you know the basics of making cold process soap. Check out my other blog about how to make goat milk soap.
Especially if this is your first time making soap because I am just sharing the recipes and the little tips that I do when making these soaps and not the full process on how to do it. These Soap Recipes are for a 42oz silicone loaf mold which gives me ten 4-5oz bars.
Double Butter Unscented
Base Oils:
Coconut Oil - 270 grams
Shea Butter - 67 grams
Cocoa Butter - 68 grams
Olive Oil - 360 grams
Rice Bran Oil - 90 grams
Castor Oil - 45 grams
Lye Solution:
Goat Milk (Frozen) - 250 grams
Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) - 125 grams
This soap actually has a slight smell of the cocoa butter which I think is nice for an unscented bar of goat milk soap. I let my soap cure for 6 weeks before using and selling.
Lavender Oatmeal
Base Oils:
Coconut Oil - 216 grams
Cocoa Butter - 72 grams
Olive Oil - 360 grams
Shea butter - 72 grams
Sweet Almond Oil - 108 grams
Castor Oil - 72 grams
Lye Solution:
Goat Milk (Frozen) - 250 grams
Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) - 125 grams
Essential Oil and Additives:
Lavender Essential Oil - 30 grams
1/3 cup of ground up oatmeal (save a little for top of soap)
I add the essential oil and oatmeal into my base oils before adding the lye solution. Save a little oatmeal to sprinkle on the top of your soap after you pour it into the mold. When you go to cut this soap make sure to cut it from the side and not the top. If you do it from the top some of the oatmeal bits from the top will drag down making marks in your bars of soap.
Chocolate Mint
Base Oils:
Coconut Oil - 180 grams
Cocoa Butter - 180 grams
Olive Oil - 225 grams
Canola Oil - 180 grams
Sweet Almond Oil - 81 grams
Castor Oil - 54 grams
Lye Solution:
Goat Milk (Frozen) - 244 grams
Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) - 122 grams
Essential Oil and Additives:
Peppermint Essential Oil - 30 grams
2 Tablespoons of regular cocoa powder
This soap will remind your of chocolate mint candy. I add the essential oil and cocoa powder into my base oils (mix well) and then add my lye solution. This is a great natural way to have a different color soap.
Sweet Orange
Base Oils:
Coconut Oil - 270 grams
Cocoa Butter - 72 grams
Olive Oil - 360 grams
Canola Oil - 126 grams
Castor Oil - 72 grams
Lye Solution:
Goat Milk (Frozen) - 254 grams
Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) - 127 grams
Essential Oil and Additives:
Sweet Orange Essential Oil - 30 grams
1 overfull teaspoon of dried orange peels (ground into powder)
I dried my orange peels for 2 or 3 days by letting them sit by our woodstove. You could use a food dehydrator or the oven to dry them quicker then waiting a few days like I did. Ground them up as much as you can. The smaller the pieces the less chance there will be that they will mold in your soap and ruin it. I added the essential oil and dried orange peels to my base oils before adding the lye solution. Save a little bit of orange peels for top of soap.
I would love the hear if you tried these recipes and how they turned out.
