Goat Milk Shampoo Recipe

rosemary shampoo bar made out of goat milk soap

Make your own shampoo bar using goat milk. It is moisturizing for your hair and healthy for your scalp. This recipe uses rosemary essential oil as its scent. But there is more reasons for using rosemary then just the smell. Rosemary is good for your hair. It promotes hair growth and can be used on any hair type because it helps the hair follicle and not necessarily the hair strand.

If you never used a shampoo bar it may take several weeks for your hair to get use to being washed with a goat milk shampoo bar. The first few times I washed my hair with a goat milk shampoo bar my hair was really knotted and tangled but now it is a lot better and I love the shampoo bar. I no longer have to buy conditioner for my hair. So in the end goat milk shampoo bars may end up being cheaper if your hair no longer need conditioner. This is because of the moisturizing goat's milk in the shampoo bar.

Here is the recipe for you to try yourself or you can buy it in our online store.

Rosemary Shampoo Bars

Base Oils

Coconut oil - 255 grams

Olive oil - 255 grams

Shea butter - 56 grams

Castor oil - 142 grams

Sweet Almond oil - 85 grams

Beeswax - 28 grams

Lye Solution

Goat milk (frozen) - 312 grams

Sodium hydroxide (lye) - 122 grams

Essential Oil and additives

Rosemary essential oil - 30 grams

Honey - 1 Tablespoon

Notes

The oils have to be hot (100 degrees) for the beeswax to melt and stay melted. For me my oils were right around 100 degrees and my goat milk and lye were a little over 60 degrees and it worked out for me. I add my essential oil to my base oils before I add the goat milk lye solution. The honey is added after the goat milk and lye solution and once you reach a very light trace.
